Construction Services
R&M is a California-licensed General Engineering Contractor (Hazardous Substances Removal and Remedial Actions Certification, License No. 718658). R&M supplements its in-house capabilities with those of specialty contractors with California and DOT hazardous material transporter permit, heavy equipment, and fully trained equipment operators. Remedial construction services offered cover excavation and removal of contaminated soil, waste hauling for off site disposal; backfilling, compaction and compaction testing; and installation of packaged systems for on-site treatment of soil and, groundwater.
R&M has performed as a general contractor on several major construction and demolition projects, including $5.3 million levee repair and dam protection projects for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District. Construction management is a major element of construction services offered by R&M. For example, R&M provided construction oversight for a multi-million dollar removal action at Alameda Point (formerly, Naval Air Station Alameda) involving the following:
- Removal of approximately 34,500 linear feet of underground fuel pipeline, including excavation and removal of any contaminated soil above the groundwater to a limit of 5 feet from the pipelines.
- In-place closure of approximately 24,100 linear feet of underground fuel pipelines in the tarmac area.
- Demolition of 4 buildings.
- Excavation and removal of approximately 5,000 cubic yards of heavily contaminated soil in a former fuel loading station.
- Removal of one aboveground storage tank and 29 USTs and in-place closure of one UST.
